Workplace Policies & Procedures
They define workplace harassment policies, leave of absence policies, workplace violence, sick time policy, hours of work and dress code, among others. All employers are now required to create and maintain workplace policies and procedures manuals and make them available to all employees.
Policies and procedures create a standardized and transparent framework to which both workers, managers and employers are held accountable. They create a level playing field and ensure that all workplace issues are dealt with fairly and consistently from one situation to the next. They can protect employers from worker complaints and help workers pursue the justice that they need.
There is no one-size-fits-all set of workplace policies or procedures. Every company and organization has unique needs. However, workplace procedures and policies must align with governing labour, employment and human rights legislation.
